In the past, Medicare’s open enrollment period for those who did not enroll when eligible or those who were still employed was January through March. Beginning for the coverage year of 2012 open enrollment is October 15, 2011 through December 7, 2011.
Medicare Part C, also known as a Medicare Advantage Plan, are insurance plans by third parties that Medicare has approved. These plans will incorporate your Part A (Hospital Insurance), Part B (Medical Insurance), and some include Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage). In addition to these Parts, you may be able to also get dental, vision, and hearing coverage you may not have otherwise received. You can join a Medicare Advantage plan with any pre-existing condition except end-stage renal disease.
Medicare Part B is a type of health insurance that covers necessary outpatient services, doctor services, home health care, and occasionally preventative services. It is used for services that diagnose conditions. This is used as a sort of counter part to Part A which covers inpatient services and can be used in conjunction to Part D for prescription drugs.
